Chris Clark has called Totems Flare the final installment of a trilogy that started with 2006's Body Riddle and continued with last year's Turning Dragon. The album is a mixture of the dance-ready beats that were so prevalent on Turning Dragon with the more IDM textures found on the previous record. Clark said of the recording, "it was a constant process of editing and chiselling down the structure until it was completely watertight.  I've got enough tracks..... I could stop writing new tunes for the next three years if I wanted to, but I can't resist it." With quality control like that, you have to expect something big from Warp's newest leader of the avant-garde electronica world.
