Review

For their fourth album and first in four years, Canadian quintet Buried Inside once again give brain hemorrhages to fans and critics trying to process the density of their lyrics.  Their last, Chronoclast, had the guiding principle of time to focus it. The eight roman enumerated tracks on Spoils of Failure have no such overarching concept, but they are unified by a highly dramatic, repetitive, mid-tempo churn and the passionate screams of Buried Inside's triple-vocalist attack. Kurt Ballou (Converge) produced this one, and as with most of his work, it sounds alive.
