February 3, 1959 is "the day the music died," and works by Buddy Holly remain the most sought after of the musicians lost on that fateful day. In tribute to its fiftieth anniversary, Geffen is releasing Memorial Collection, which is a three-CD, 60-song set of rare Holly recordings. It includes early undubbed recordings with Holly's first collaborator, Bob Montgomery, as well as selections from the famous "Apartment Tapes." The anniversary is also being remembered with a sister project to Memorial Collection entitled Down the Line: The Rarities.
