Brad Laner Natural Selections

“Natural Selections is unashamedly all artifice, all pretend, all construction. Now, for me, it’s all about making records in a painstakingly slow fashion, laboring over five seconds of music at a time for months on end only to trash it and start all over again ad infinitum or until I’m happy. In between packing lunches.” Seems like Brad Laner has fully adjusted to family life. This is the second solo album of thoughtful, well-crafted rock from the former guitar god of Medicine and cerebral electronics whiz behind solo project Electric Company. Though the process may take longer and be more deliberate these days, the music is in fact hardly artificial in terms of substance. It's just the sound of a hero growing up.
