Aside from 2007's Sacchrilege EP, Boom Bip's releases following 2005's Blue Eyed in the Red Room were collaborative affairs. In both '07 and '08, the multi-instrumentalist/producer dropped joint projects with Busdriver and Gruff Rhys, respectively. The latter ended up being one of his most successful to date as he and Rhys earned critical acclaim as Neon Neon. Boom Bip then resumed his solo career by working on Zig Zaj, a guest-heavy affair from the Cincinnati native. It features vocals from Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, Money Mark, Luke Steele, Cate Le Bon, and Mikey Noyce, all of whom complement Boom Bip's off-kilter electronic approach.
