He of powerful music checks in with another EP, Book of Keys, on the heels of a less-thrilling collection of instrumental cuts. High Priest reveals himself as the more abstract, Sun Ra-worshipping half of Airborn Audio on this twelve-inch, which includes three songs and one instrumental cut. Here, HP postures himself as something like the hermetic Ted Kaczynski of hip-hop, and I mean that in the best possible way. Dizzying record scratches, Suicide-ish keyboard riffs and violent snare hits are the norm on each song here, and combined with Priest’s baritone, machine-gun rhyming … well, right now there’s just no one that sounds anything like him or his Airborn partner, M.Sayyid. The boys from White Plains are the next wave.
