Here's the first full-length from the young, upstart band Black Kids, a group that has inspired equal amounts of fawning and vitriol in the blogosphere since 2007's debut EP, Wizard of Aahs. The love stems from how damn catchy the band's songs can be; the hate from how ridiculous it is that kids so damn young can craft tunes so damn catchy. As with many an interesting new American band, Black Kids has garnered more love in the U.K. than here in the U.S. Perhaps that's what led Suede guitarist Bernard Butler to produce Partie Traumatic. Black Kids rocks a brand of power-pop that wouldn't be out of place on a soundtrack to a John Hughes film from the '80s.
