It is like some kind of weird destiny for these two MCs to work on a mixtape together. Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. both took several years to finally break through and when they did, it was at nearly the same time. They are also from bordering states – Yela is a Gasden, Ala., native while K.R.I.T. hails from Meridian, Miss. While they might differ in content at times, their overall message tends to be relatively similar: Slightly hood-centric narrative-driven content delivered with a quick-tongued flow. And on The Country Cousins: Trunk Muzik Wuz Here, the two rappers find themselves jumping on tracks from their respective projects. For example, Yela added a killer verse to “Hometown Hero,” one of the standouts from K.R.I.T.'s widely acclaimed 2010 album, K.R.I.T. Wuz Here.
