Half of the legendary duo Everything But the Girl, Ben Watt has achieved international success as a producer of elegant adult pop and brilliant dance tracks. As a solo artist, Watt has remixed the likes of Sade and Maxwell into gorgeous deep house gems, while also rocking clubs with his deejay sets of sexy house and down-tempo. With his Buzzin' Fly label, he is able to showcase his talents as a producer and as a deejay. On Buzzin' Fly Volume 3, Watt brings us more of his slinky house grooves, albeit with a more electro vibe.

This mix compilation begins with a rather eerie spoken-word intro before segueing into some electro-funk by Gazebo. But if you're expecting vocal deep house, this isn't it. The tracks here are more on a tech-house vibe, grabbing elements from electro, trance and acid house. The only vocals present here are computerized samples and the rare vocal snippet or loop.

Although much of the compilation is fairly mellow and perfect for late-night listening, tracks such as John Tejada's remix of "San Fernando Road" and Rodamaal's "Insomnia" ratchet up the funk factor ever so slightly. Better house compilations exist, but Buzzin' Fly Volume 3 is perfect for that after-hours cool down.
