Industrial/noise mainstay David Tibet had ambitious ideas for Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain. Originally, it was supposed to be a conceptual trilogy that dramatized the narrative of the protagonist, Aleph. After the recording sessions, Tibet decided to condense the three albums into one, but the list of guest musicians is a testament to the scope of sounds within the eight songs that made the cut: Nurse With Wound's Steven Stapleton and Andrew Liles, Superwolf's Matt Sweeney, Red Krayola's Alex Neilson, Coil's Ossian Brown, porn star Sasha Grey, and rock star/partier Andrew W.K., among others, contributed to the record. Stylistically, Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain is a progression of the dark folk-tinged doom that Tibet has been pursuing in the latter part of Current 93's twenty-six year career, but on a much grander scale. An alternative version of the album featuring only Tibet, Stapleton and Liles is also to be released with a hardbound book of the lyrics.
