Review

This pack of Chino, Calif., natives had dropped two full-lengths prior to 2008's Skeleton, but it was that project that really broke the band through to a different level. Its infectious melodies saw Abe Vigoda's stock rise greatly as numerous media outlets labeled the album as one of the year's finest. It also saw the tropical punk rockers make the move to Los Angeles, where they began recording their fourth proper album, Crush, which follows up the well received Reviver EP. Frontman Michael Vidal has described the band's fourth record as a mixture of nostalgic tunes inspired by minimalist music and Arthur Russell. Oh, and with plenty of reverb blended in, too.
