Dudley Perkins

    A ‘Lil Light

Vocal and lyrical abilities aren’t always good indicators of quality in the musical realm, but these skills are pretty damn important for an R&B album. With some fantastic tracks produced by the tireless Madlib (who has apparently discovered a way to get 26 hours out of every day), it’s a travesty that Dudley Perkins can’t really sing and either repeats the same lines over and over again or just sort of rambles or talks to himself. If any album screamed for an instrumental release, it’s this one, but my guess is that Stone’s Throw would just as soon forget this ever happened.
