What do 4 Way Street and the Backstreet Boys have in common? Luckily for 4 Way Street, it's not hairstyles and levels of suck. It's that both bands were artificially assembled (though 4 Way gets bonus points for crediting the program director of WXPN's renowned "World Cafe" as their creator). This is the kind of album you take on family camping trips: roots-rock with a bit of bluesy flair, pleasant melodies and nothing too disagreeable for your parents or your consistently drunk uncle. The same sound that makes it parent-friendly also keeps it from truly standing out, but there's no doubt this is the work of four talented songwriters and performers, which is more than most albums have to offer.
