@Johnmel - it was totally sad, but oddly enough with all that collective sadness it ended up being a strangely melancholy good time, didn't you find?
i think it was that everyone really, really wanted it to happen--and were periodically given hope that it would (hello? lady representing first 800 yrs of minimalism starts singing and the clouds actually parted). god was on our side! only he wasn't really...or really isn't. it was still a magical evening though. i say "yay" to hippie dancing in the rain.
