The Raveonettes @ Bowery Ballroom (NYC)

This show was quite the adventure. As Black Acid was playing a girl pushed through the crowd to stand on my left. She proceeded to hold her cell phone above her head and take camera phone pictures through the entire set. She only lowered her cell phone once and that was to answer a phone call. During a song. "HELLO!?? HELL - OOOO!?"

Next, a girl pushed up through the crowd on my right. A couple of songs later and I felt her weaving back and forth, bumping into me. I looked over at her. Her eyes rolled back in her head and she passed out, collapsing to the floor. Her friend/boyfriend picked her up and she sort of came to. I motioned at him to get her away from the stage, she was pouring with sweat. I didn't know if she was sick with the flu or what. The friend/boyfriend told me she'd be just fine, no worries! A couple of seconds later she passed out again. Her friends carried her away.

The Raveonettes came on. People started smoking weed. Security went through the crowd to bust them. I waited for two songs to take any photos because I assumed the lighting would get better - I couldn't see the performer's faces b/c they were backlit. No luck, so I took out my flash and started annoying the crap out of everyone with it. During their set a guy with a camera ran up from the right, pushed his way through the crowd, dove onto the stage and laid down at the feet of Sharin. He then started taking flash photos upwards - trying to take photos up her skirt? I don't know. She ended up having to shoo him off the stage.

wow.... where was security?

Probably too busy hunting down the weed smokers ;) I thought about throwing my camera at his head but thought that I might not get it back. Also thought of taking a photo to expose his stupidity but then thought he might be proud of it.

ahh shaming people by taking their picture is what i like to do. speaking of which, i saw the same guy that pushed his way to the front at nada surf at the drive-by truckers show trying to get into the pit without a pass. he got yelled at by security. made my day.

ohhhh that's right I could've added to the "Don't be this guy" thread - don't be the guy laying down on stage taking photos up the singer's skirt! maybe I could just draw a diagram.

this sounds like the show from hell. i haven't been having too much fun at shows at bowery of late, hopefully the beach house show on wed. turns out well.
