More High Places photos!!! Their set was so magical, playing in the tree! I saw them the next night in Brooklyn, and both nights they completely blew the headlining bands away. Celebration is talented and all, but High Places made them seem like a cover band, in terms of beauty and originality. I wish they played longer though! Same with Friday, short set, but it was so dense and cinamatic. The headliner at that show was a Broken Social Scene peer band, and they looked so tired and dated playing after them. High Places has a description that I've seen around saying that they are "warm and familiar", which is totally accurate, almost like the way you feel around the holidays. But at the same time they sound like nobody else, and the sounds are totally impossible to identify. Lazy writers have compared them to Animal Collective, but it's really is more feminine, childlike, but also incredibly smart. Somebody needs to sign them soon, they will be huge within a year.
