You asked for an indie rock supergroup and you got it (I know you didn’t ask, but just pretend, okay? Because it’s pretty cool). Zodiacs are a band of indie rock luminaries, all now together, making music as one. Dum Dum girls front lady Dee Dee sings; Blank Dogs one-man-band Mike Sniper plays bass; JB Townsend of Crystal Stilts plays guitar; and Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere of Woods serve, respectively, as drummer and guitarist. According to Pitchfork, the band’s new single, “Faraway Friend,” will be sold “in an envelope sleeve with a gold foil screen, and its one-time pressing is limited to 1000 copies.” Finding a tangible version of the song will require a visit to your local independent record store (Pitchfork lists Other Music, Rough Trade and Amoeba as shops where it’ll likely be available), or you may be able to pick up a copy at a live show, since the bands will be selling a few themselves. What’s more, Captured Tracks, which is putting out the 7″, will include the single for free if you mail order more than $10 worth of stuff. At any rate, to stream “Faraway Friend” — which might appear on the album the group is currently working on — visit Pitchfork.
