Zack Morris Plays Zack Attack's "Friends Forever" with The Roots on Jimmy Fallon (Video)

I haven't watched anything other than the musical guests on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon since it premiered in March, but apparently he's on a quest to reunite the original cast of Saved By the Bell. It's a noble cause, I suppose. Last night, Mark Paul Gosselaar, who played hero Zack Morris (aka preppie), appeared on Fallon to promote his new show, Raising the Bar, but appeared in character as Zack Morris. Fallon talks to Morris about how he got divorced from Kelly Kapowski, about changing his name to Mark Paul Gosselaar and about the summer he spent working at a resort. Then, to prove he's really Zack Morris, he joins The Roots to perform "Friends Forever," the hit single from Zack Morris' very real band, the Zack Attack.

The whole segment is above for your viewing pleasure; it's a pretty funny bit, and Gosselaar is secure enough in his legacy to send himself up like this. I bet the same can't be said for some of the other people on Saved By the Bell.

This was pretty good stuff. Fallon's show usually isn't that funny. What was so cool was how Gosselaar was still pitch perfect as Zack after all these years. It's as if the man never aged. He jumped right into that character again as if it were nothing.
