Atlanta rapper Young Thug is set to release a new “singing album” entitled Easy Breezy Beautiful Thugger Girls aka E.B.B.T.G. Leading up to its release, Thugger has shared a visual teaser for the upcoming project. It’s much darker than you would expect from the colorful rapper.
The teaser begins with a reverse, folk-like acoustic guitar chord progression and signature Thug-style trap beats. We see a young woman leaving the gym before she is confronted by several masked women who jump her. The ski masks they are wearing are branded with new album, “E.B.B.T.G.” After stealing her phone, the victim is then thrown on the ground and beaten. A bat is taken to her face with smashing sound effects and an eerie ringing sound. The masked women then tie her up in an ominous, candle-lit room with spooky dolls. The video ends with the wounded woman tied up with duct tape across her face. Each piece of duct tape spells out Thug’s new album, Easy Breezy Beautiful Thugger Girls.
Thug also shared a teaser on Twitter that is slightly different: the reverse guitar in the beginning is played normally, the video begins in a different room, amongst other subtleties.
Thugger revealed that the album is set to drop this Friday, June 16th. He also shared the official artwork, which uses the shortened title, Beautiful Thugger Girls. It will follow up his critically-acclaimed previous project, JEFFREY, where the unique rapper named each track after his idols, including Harambe. The hype around this new project comes from a series of tweets Thug recently sent off. He called E.B.B.T.G. a “singing album,” and said that it is being executive produced by none other than Drake. Thugger has an undeniably unique voice; hearing him sing on every track under the guidance of Champagne Papi will certainly be interesting. Stay tuned for new music from Young Thug soon.
