Director Greg Mottola’s resume includes forthcoming entries for a Steve Carell movie with the imaginative working title of Untitled Steve Carell Project, and a comedy about a late ‘80s college grad who takes a job in an amusement park. According to Pitchfork the latter film, titled Adventureland, will have a soundtrack from Hoboken’s favorite sons (and daughter) Yo La Tengo. The cast for Mottola’s feature is an Apatow-friendly bunch that includes roles for Freaks and Geeks alum Martin Starr, Bill Hader (Superbad/Knocked Up), and Blade: Trinity star Ryan Reynolds. Of course, this won’t be the first time a director has recognized the cinematic potential of Yo La Tengo’s work; Ira and company first scored a feature back in ’92, for Hal Hartley’s Simple Men.
This is rad! I'm excited. Love YLT.
