Yo La Tengo bring their life acquatic to DVD
It all started back in 2001, when indie rock careereists Yo La Tengo were asked by folks with the San Francisco Film Festival to provide live scoring to eight short films by oceanic filmmaker Jean Painleve. Yo La went on to recreate that music in the studio and release it as 2002's The Sounds of the Sounds of Science. Now, music and film are melding again thanks to the British Film Institute's Science is Fiction. The two-disc DVD set features the films with their original scores and with Yo La Tengo's music. Fans can nab the film for themselves by heading here.

Saw them perform this in Brooklyn last year. One of the best shows I've ever seen.
