Yo La Tengo planning Hanukkah blow out in New Jersey
Q. What do Versus, Mark Arm, Times New Viking, Janeane Garolfalo, and the Sun Ra Arkestra have in common? A. They’ve all played with Yo La Tengo at their almost-annual series of Hannukah shows at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. The band is planning on keeping up the tradition this year, with another series of concerts between December 21-31.

The usual mixture of comedy and special guests are promised, but Ira Kaplan is keeping names under wraps until the shows roll around. Tickets for these shows usually go fast, and are on sale now, at $30 a pop, from Ticketweb. The dates on December 21 and 27 already appear to have sold out.

Kaplan has also announced that “The Feelies will not be playing with us during Hanukkah,” but goes on to say:  “we will be doing a gala New Year's Eve show with the Feelies, merely New Jersey's greatest rock band ever, and Vivian Girls at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ.” Tickets for this show go on sale on Saturday October 18.  [photo via Yo La Tengo's website]
