Yo La Tengo unplug, encourage banter on tour

Keeping things as fresh varied as one of their storied Hanukkah shows, Hoboken, New Jersey”’s favorite sons and daughter kicked off ””The Freewheeling Yo La Tengo Tour”” last night at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. In a sort of Storytellers meets Unplugged, Georgia, Ira and James will dish anecdotes in between nearly acoustic sets of anything and everything from their 23-year catalog as they encourage a back-and-forth with the audience. And who”’s to say they won”’t be open to a few zany covers a la WFMU fund-raising style? Grand Funk Railroad, anyone? Keeping things on the intimate and interesting tip, a number of the shows will be at museums with, like, fine art and stuff. .
