Following the success of Nine Inch Nails' most recent release, Year Zero, a remix album of the same name will be released November 20th, 2007. Officially titled Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, NIN's latest effort peaked at number two this past spring and Reznor began contacting an eclectic smattering of artists to begin remixing. According to Reznor :
"I reached out to heroes, friends and strangers," says Reznor. "I encouraged those I approached to do anything and insert themselves as much as possible into the track. Some of the stuff that was done earlier led me to choosing other people to balance things out. The Pirate Robot Midget mix is a fan's work--I thought it was great, it filled a need and I asked permission to use it here."
The collection includes, Saul Williams, Kronos Quartet, Bill Laswell, the faint and Stephen Morris to name a few. The most unique thing about this release though? According to Interscope, purchasers can remix Year Zero themselves. The CD package includes a DVD-ROM containing every track in multi-track format (Mac and PC). The tracks are pre-formatted for Apple GarageBand and Ableton Live (Mac or PC) allowing you to remix the album how you see fit. Time to start deleting all that porn to make some space in your hard drive folks. Tracklisting: 1. "Gunshots by Computer" - Saul Williams 2. "The Great Destroyer" - Modwheelmood 3.
