Some of the most faithful adherents of the power of plain ol' fashioned guitar rock, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are switching it up for their new album, It's Blitz!. Gutiarist Nick Zinner told Spin Magazine, "When Karen [O] orders, 'No guitars for Nick!' it makes you approach things in a different way." So apparently, the new album has Zinner trading his guitar for a synth a great deal of the time. Worried? You might have reason to be, guitar-lovers. The album was apparently inspired by Joy Division as well as Italo Disco great Giorgio Moroder's work with Donna Summer.
The follow-up to 2006's Show Your Bones was produced by TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, who's apparently in a contest with someone to see who can rack up the most production credits, and Nick Launay (Talking Heads, INXS, Arcade Fire). TV on The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe, Kyp Malone, Bird and The Bee's Greg Kurstin, YYY's performing member Imaad Wasif, and Stuart Boogie all contribute to the new record, which drops April 14 on Interscope.
If you're still worried that you're going to listen to It's Blitz! and find out that Yeah Yeah Yeahs have gone all disco on you, just look at the tracklist below; nothing like "Don't Leave Me This Way" or "Give Me All Your Lovin" on there.
