Yasiin Bey (Formerly Mos Def) Unveils Another Top 40 Underdog Song, "Bey"

Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, has unveiled the second song from his Top 40 Underdog series. The new track is called “Bey,” and it’s the rapper’s update of “John” from 2011’s Tha Carter IV. Bey reportedly released the track today in honor of The Notorious B.I.G.’s birthday.

For the Top 40 Underdog project, Bey has been taking chart-topping tracks by other artists and creating a new song inspired by and addressing the first. Back in January Bey kicked off the project with “Niggas In Poorest,” his take on Kanye West and Jay-Z’s “Niggas In Paris” from last year’s Watch The Throne. [HT]
