Yahoo! Lists Top 30 Vacation Songs
Yahoo! Lists Top 30 Vacation Songs
Tourists seem like an unlikely muse for great music -- the fannypacks and sunburns generally don't inspire anyone, much less rock stars. However, Yahoo! Music has compiled a list of "30 Great Vacation Songs Not Including the Go-Gos' 'Vacation.'" The post takes the reader through a sonic journey that includes Morocco (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Marrakesh Express"), Cambodia (Dead Kennedys' "Holiday in Cambodia") and -- of course -- Kokomo (The Beach Boys' song of the same name). However, some of the titles don't mention any place in particular and just celebrate the freedom to pack up and go (B-52s' "Roam").
There's even something for the music fan that thinks it's best not to leave the house. As The Clash crooned in "Safe European Home," "They got the sun and they got the palm tress / They got the weed, and they got the taxies / Whoa, the harder they come, n' the home of ol' Bluebeat / Yes I'd stay and be a tourist but can't take the gun play."
See below for the full list:
1. The Damned "Lovely Money"
2. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young "Marrakesh Express"
3. Deana Carter "We Danced Anyway"
4. Men at Work "Down Under"

6. Jimmy Buffett "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes"
