xXx Will Get A Sequel And It Will Star Vin Diesel

When xXx was released ten years ago, it seemed as if it might be the next big action franchise. It seemed to capture all the right elements of the cultural zeitgeist of the time -- extreme sports, worldly globe-trotting and Vin Diesel. Unfortunately, it was only successful enough to spawn a lesser sequel (xXx: State of the Union) with a different director (Lee Tahamori instead of Rob Cohen) and a new star (Ice Cube).

However, after years on the back burner, the original team behind xXx is teaming up for another installment. While the details are sketchy right now, Rob Cohen sat down for an interview with IndieWire to go over some of the details. There are some juicy nuggets that reveal a movie that sounds like a return to form for the franchise and a win for audiences.

For instance, Diesel will definitely return as original protagonist Xander Cage. He'll be fighting a brother-sister team of villains, and the picture will be in 3D. The only big question mark is whether Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as NSA agent (and Xander Cage's boss) Augustus Gibbons. In my opinion, that's the final piece of the puzzle needed to bring this film together.
