The folks over at XLR8R have released their best of 2008 list, but they've done it without including the musical hierarchy that makes the "Best of 2008" world go round. Overall, the list is pretty solid, with releases from Beach House, Portishead, Atlas Sound, and Flying Lotus making the top 25; however, there's a couple of odd choices. For one thing, I'm pretty sure that the Glass Candy and Dizzee Rascal records were both released in 2007, and maybe the magazine and alt-folk had an argument or something, but XLR8R seems to have given the cold shoulder to the Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes releases, both seemingly ubiquitous thus far to the "Bo2k8" list. View the list in all of its egalitarian glory after the jump.

Umm that's the point of opinions - they differ. Especially in something as subjective as music...

Good to see the Daedelus album there. Also, this the first list I've seen with the Syclops album on it.
@ashley
it wasn't a complaint, it was an observation.
fleet foxes and bon iver will be common on peoples' lists- as i think they should be. But I think a lot of lists will tend to feature more originality or hipness than possibly the better music. I used 'better' because they included MGMT...which isn't a surprise. Foals? Seriously?
also, what's the protocol on the Bon Iver album? Technically, it was released last year.
