"I Hope You Die” is a free offering from Wye Oak’s new EP My Neighbor/ My Creator, out digitally today at the Merge Store. The duo has two LPS out to date (If Children and Knots), which are full of keyboard and saxaphone-rich ballads that play up distortion. With this song, Jenn Wasner sings, “I hope you die” but actually means, “I love you a lot, you jerk.”
Wye Oak is playing a Stereogum party at SXSW with, quite appropriately, Ben Gibbard and Morning Benders. SXSW dates are part of an extensive U.S. tour.
