Wyclef Paid Mistress Money Through Yele Haiti Charity

All the talk about Wyclef's Yele Haiti charity being something of a slush fund for the rapper has been sorta confirmed by Smoking Gun, who found that Wyclef paid his mistress $105,000 in Yele Haiti funds in 2008. The woman, Zayika Khatou-Chevassus, is currently listed as Yele Haiti's vice president, but in 2008, she was little more than Clef's lover and "personal assistant."

All of this is coming up now because Yele Haiti has received boatloads of money since the earthquake that shook Wyclef's home country in January. It seems like until January, Yele Haiti was mostly used by Wyclef to promote things he was doing, business-wise, in Haiti as opposed to actually helping people who are in need (he allegedly used hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote some business ventures abroad on a Haitian TV channel he bought). Maybe that'll change now, but given the track record unearthed by Smoking Gun, that seems unlikely. [Smoking Gun]
