The smart alecs over at Gigwise have put together a list of the year's worst album covers. We don't wanna spoil anyone's surprise, but we'll give you a few hints which one "won" the dubious honor. First hint: It was a long-awaited release. Second hint: If the artist catches wind of this, he'll probably threaten to punch the author of this list, but no punches will ever be thrown.
Other than that, the list is a fun mix-up of entries by respectable types like Bob Mould, laughingstocks like Vanilla Ice, and people who should have known better, like Sia.
And if anyone hasn't seen the strange UK cover of the Kings of Leon's latest, now's your chance to wonder what they were thinking.
Pretty funny album covers. The KoL's UK cover has me scratching my head.
I quite like that Dodos album cover, and the Long Blondes one. The Manda Rin one is truly awful.
I have to admit I've tried to avoid viewing that awful Islands artwork in case it makes me love the record less.
That list was incredible....I think I have a migraine and pretty much need to vomit.......lol
I disagree with a lot of them... like the Megapuss picture is pretty cool (okay the typing is ugly as sh**) but it reminds me of Samaras' old stuff (famous greek photographer from the 70s)
Even though The Streets' album cover isn't a great picture I think it really explains what's in the record. I think it's too easy to say "a rock in front of a waterfall?", that's just stupid to say.
There are funny ones, that's true.
God that 31knots cover gave me nightmares.
Yeah I don't get The Long Blondes, Sun Kil Moon or Sea and Cake additions. But I do get the Kaiser Chiefs! How did The Killers cover not get in the top 10, let alone on the list at all?
I love Kol's UK album cover, i think it's better that the US version
