Woodstock 40th Anniversary Concert Canceled

Finally, a blow against marauding Boomer nostalgia: the planned 40th anniversary Woodstock concert has been canceled after organizer Michael Lang couldn't raise the $8-$10 million it would take to throw the concert in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Apparently people aren't willing to sponsor concerts celebrating the cultural contributions of Wavy Gravy anymore.

Lang's additional plan to have the concert during Climate Week (Sept. 20-26) has also been tossed. However, this does open Lang up to do his long-planned 10th anniversary of Woodstock '99 (except this time, without the violence and rape, obviously). [Spinner]

Shame on you Andrew Winistorfer, you cultural dolt. Trash anyone you'd like in the name of your profound cleverness, but leave Wavy Gravy out of it. He, personally and through his foundation Seva (www.seva.org), and his kid's camp (www.campwinnarainbow.org) have done more to contribute to, and assist humankind than you will ever.

Oh no, apparently Wavy Gravy has stans. OK, maybe he does great things with charities, but that doesn't change that lauding him as an important member of your boomer pop culture is stupid.

That's upsetting. Do you remember the music, the mud, and the masses of Woodstock? Too young to recall the summer of 1969? Either way, watch VH1's Rock Doc, Woodstock: Then and Now on Friday, August 14th at 9 pm. Be sure to visit win.vh1.com to enter the Peace Love & Hi-Def Sweepstakes to win a brand new Vizio HDTV and soundsystem!

How fitting we made the original "Paid Event" free. And now the second "Paid Event" is cancelled. UAW/MF
