San Francisco psych-rockers Wooden Shjips have signed to Thrill Jockey in advance of the release of the band’s new record, West. That album was recorded in a studio, which is a first for the group, and was partly engineered by former Spacemen 3 frontman (and MGMT/Panda Bear associate) Sonic Boom. The cover art for the record, which decorates this post, certainly shows some pride from the band for their native city, although Thrill Jockey has announced that they will be leaving those surroundings to embark on a world tour shortly after the album is released. Expect to check out those dates soon, in the meantime here’s the full track listing for West, which is due out on August 16:
01. Black Smoke Rise
02. Crossing
03. Lazy Bones
04. Home
05. Flight
06. Looking Out
07. Rising
