Wonder Woman may be the next superhero to hit the small screen, with a TV show in development for The CW.
The CW is in talks with Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics about producing a series called Amazon that will focus on the origin story of Wonder Woman, according to a report from Vulture. The network is already the home of several superhero TV shows, including the Superman origin show Smallville and the upcoming Green Arrow show, Arrow. Writer Allan Heinberg, who previously wrote several Wonder Woman comics, is penning the script for the series’ pilot. However, The CW has made no commitments to producing the pilot, which means that the show isn’t official yet.
Over the past few years, there have been several attempts to revive the Wonder Woman on screen, including an attempt to make a feature film from The Avengers director Joss Whedon. Veteran producer David E. Kelly filmed a pilot for a NBC series about the superhero, but the network passed on bringing it to a series.
