One of the greatest of soul’s unsung survivors, Bobby Womack is the focus of a mini documentary “The Bravest Man In The Universe”, focusing on the behind the scenes of the making of his new record of the same name, due for release June 12. Directed by Bronx based Jamie James Medina, the short film sees Womack collaborating with the record’s producers Damon Albarn and Richard Russell in Albarn’s London studio. The clip also shows Womack reminiscing on a career that has spanned the full gambit of critical acclaim, drug addiction and career resurrection. Womack’s tendency to delve into the philosophical and introspective on record (see 1972’s “The Facts of Life”) is certain to be given ample space on camera, as well as proving that his booming baritone belies the singer’s 68 years.
