will.i.am: ‘Michael Jackson will release album when’s he ready’

Despite having worked on the project for over two years, Black Eyed Peas producer/frontman will.i.am is warning fans not to expect Michael Jackson’s new LP anytime soon. Jackson’s last “big comeback” came in the form of 2001’s Invincible, a supposedly modern turn for Jacko that met with mixed critical and debatable commercial success. Jackson’s new album aims to correct at least one of Invincible’s oft-cited issues by employing a younger stable of hit-makers on production. At this rate, though, he’ll still be behind the times when the thing actually comes out. There’s no word on how much material is actually completed or what any of it sounds like but according to will.i.am, Jackson is “gonna release his record when he releases his record.” Off to a great start, Mike.
