With The Expendables 2 almost out it’s apparently time for the film’s producers to start thinking about the threequel. Like a blockbuster Traveling Wilburys, the Expendables series is based solely around the idea of stuffing as many big-name action stars into one film as possible. The second film, which hits theaters August 17, features the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, and the producers are only looking to expand the roster for The Expendables 3.
According to producer Avi Lerner, Nicolas Cage has already signed on and now there are efforts to land some even bigger stars. “We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him,” said Lerner. “We’re talking to Harrison Ford… Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison.” As much of a stretch as it might sound like, any film with Han Solo, Dirty Harry and Blade would be worth seeing.
