It's Will Oldham's day in Hollywood today. First, a stint on Squidbillies, now a leading turn in a dramatic indie. Now which of these two sounds odd?
Oldham will be starring in R. Alverson's New Jerusalem. The film is described as "a meditation on friendship, human need and frailty." More specifically, Colm O'Leary (who starred in another Alverson film The Builder) is a troubled "Irish immigrant returning from a non-combat tour of duty in Afghanistan" and Will Oldham is the "strong-willed evangelical who endeavors to ensure his salvation." Though Robert Donne (Labradford) & Champ Bennett (Gregor Samsa) handle the score, the trailer suggests we'll at least hear Oldham joining the congregation as he feels the spirit. Then he holds the other guy's hand for a moment while he prays.
