Will Jay-Z be invited to President Obama's inauguration?

Despite Jay-Z’s tireless work for Barack Obama during the buildup to yesterday’s election, he wasn’t invited to the huge emotional outpouring in Chicago last night. Many of Obama’s celebrity supporters were asked to steer clear of the victory party in Chicago, but it could be a different story at his inauguration on January 20, 2009.

The Chicago Sun Times is quoting an Obama source as saying: “There will be plenty of time for a new President Obama to be surrounded by famous fans, all hopeful about a new administration." This has led to rumors that Jay-Z and fellow supporters such as P. Diddy and Mary J. Blige may be invited to the inauguration.

The move would closely mirror the U.K. elections in 2007, when Tony Blair famously sought endorsements from musicians such as Oasis and Creation Records boss Alan McGee. Noel Gallagher ended up being invited to 10 Downing Street for a post-election party. Could a similar event at the White House be on the cards? [NME]

I think these celebs are becoming more like parasites on Obama. He basically had to buy them off from being at his victory speech by letting them into his inauguration??? Celebs didn't win it for Kerry, and they sure didn't win it for Obama either. They need to lay off. I support Obama too, but you don't see me demanding a seat at the show.

Obama won because Americans wanted the change. Jay-Z and all of these celebrities had nothing to do with Obamas historic win. There should be no invite for Jay-Z or anybody for the inaguration. Where were these celebrities 4 years ago? umm...yea...the american people have spoken..allow Obama to enjoy it with them!
