Apparently Warner Bros. is looking to keep things gritty with forthcoming Justice League film. The studio has reportedly approached actor/writer/director Ben Affleck to direct its adaptation of the comic book series. Of all the directors in the running, Affleck is apparently the only one who will be given access to Will Beall’s script.
Affleck’s two previous directorial projects, 2007’s Gone Baby Gone and 2010’s The Town, were both far darker than the average big budget superhero film. Justice League is expected to follow the model set by The Avengers, with individual films following Batman, Superman and the team’s other members leading up to its release. Justice League is not expected to hit theaters until summer 2015. [FSR]
