Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Flaming Lips Contribute to Record Store Day
Record Store Day is fast approaching, and the list of artists contributing limited edition vinyl and other goodies just keeps getting longer. The event, which takes place on April 18, encompasses independent record stores across the country, who will no doubt be
very
busy. Grizzly Bear, Andrew Bird, Flaming Lips and Cold War Kids are among the latest artists to donate releases to the cause.
Among the best non-vinyl stuff available on April 18 will be an exclusive Death Cab for Cutie t-shirt,
this
Beastie Boys record mat and Wilco’s
Ashes of American Flags
DVD. Sonic Youth has two split 7-inch singles available, one with Beck and the other with Jay Reatard, while that Grizzly Bear single consists of two tracks recorded live for KCRW.
The Flaming Lips’
excellent cover
of Madonna’s “Borderline” will also be pressed up for the day (and backed by a Black Keys song) and an exclusive Flight of the Conchords single will also be available. The list makes for impressive reading, and will no doubt lead to an upswing in fortunes for indie record stores on April 18. All the stores participating in the event can be found on the official
Record Store Day website

Record Store Day is exactly what we need now. Too bad it doesn't happen once per month.
