Let us all take a moment to mourn the loss of one of the most entertaining social media profiles on the Internet — Kanye West's Twitter account.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Yeezy has cleaned up shop and all but vanished completely from the microsharing site. Every single Tweet amassed by the hip-hop star since he joined the social network in 2010 has been deleted without reason or warning. In their place, a single, cryptic message: "BE BACK SOON." (It's also interesting to note that West now follows one single account — that of his girlfriend, "socialite" Kim Kardashian.)
West's Tweets, often inane and unintentionally hilarious, have been immortalized in everything from Internet memes to embroidered crafts — so it's truly a shame that the singer's rants on airplane water bottles and emotional reactions to typace are forever erased from the annals of Twitter.
No word on whether or not the move is a stunt to drum up publicity for a new West-fronted project, or if the singer is entering another self-imposed social media absence. Until West reveals more, his 8.6 million followers will just have to accept the disappearance of Kanye-isms from their everyday lives.
