White Stripes Song To Appear In 'Footloose' Remake

The remake of Footloose is yet another reason to think that Hollywood is struggling for ideas at present, although there may be some salvation through the film’s soundtrack. Smashing Pumpkins and Cee Lo Green are among the artists featured on it—if there’s an epic dance scene to “Cherub Rock” it might be worth the price of admission in a so-bad-its-good kinda way. But the real revelation is the use of The White Stripes in a pivotal scene in the film.

Star Kenny Wormald told Moviefone:  “The song that I dance to in the film is by The White Stripes and it's called 'Catch Hell Blues’. I don't want to give away too much but that that's the kind of music you vent to. I think [Craig Brewer, director] found the perfect song. It's relatable and I think you understand through the song how much anger and how much venting the character is going through. You look for that crazy rock, strong drums and strong percussion. 'Catch Hell Blues' is exactly that song."

Hopefully Jack White will let us know his thoughts on that at some point, although right now he’s probably counting the big pile of cash he’s made from such lucrative licensing of his work.
