Via: SpineFormat Magazine takes a look at the different cover art from the Native Tongues. Back then we had some memorable artwork to go along with the shiny CD. Now we get some forgettable ish. More evidence that hip hop is dead?

Tribe always had the best art. I remember when Beats Rhymes and Life came out with a limited edition 3-d hologram sort of thing ... or the slogan for each Public Enemy album that ran along the bottom. |

Cover art is very improtant... it helps visually display the vision of the album if done right... at least it should be attractive to the eye. I have purchased albums just based on the cover art... Dope album covers and artwork will always be important to fan and music enthusiast alike... imagine getting an Armani suit in a trash bag from Sak's... presentation is everything |

If I lived in the Bay Area like you MK I'd eat burritos daily. |
I know people love album art, but does anyone base their purchases on it? Now that you can hear everything before you buy, the cover seems like less of a marketing tool.
