This weekend, Radiohead played a show in Kansas City, and apparently everyone in town wasn't so happy about it: The highly controversial Westboro Baptist church protested the band's show, showing up in droves to write mean things on signs to assault people going to see the show. Apparently, the Westboro people think that people shouldn't spend time seeing Radiohead shows, and instead should worry about God's might coming down on them, and that Radiohead are "freak monkeys." Here's what they wrote on their website:
"You try to get the people to look at the nonsense and not at the wrath of God that abides upon them. "Look at the circus monkey over there and the fluffy setting, blah, blah..." Meanwhile, God is undoing this nation and effecting all of your lives, with the moth that quietly eats the very fabric of your national garment. Radiohead is just such an event."
The show was still well attended, so the protest didn't exactly work. But we're talking about it, so maybe it did? [P4K]
