Weinstein Company Picks Up Rights to John Lennon Biopic

The Weinstein Company, the evil cabal that somehow bought The Reader a Best Picture Nomination at this year’s Oscars, has just bought the U.S. and Latin America distribution rights to Nowhere Boy, a biopic about John Lennon’s childhood. The film, which follows the fight between Lennon’s mother and aunt (who mostly raised him) for custody and Lennon’s affections, was written by Control writer Matt Greenhalgh, and is currently in production. Aaron Johnson plays the young Lennon, and Kristin Scott Thomas plays his aunt. The film is slated for a 2010 release. [Billboard]
