Weezer To Release Forthcoming Eighth LP On Indie
Current artistic credibility notwithstanding, Weezer is one of the few contemporary rock bands that can still sell a shit-ton of records. And the fact that they'll be releasing their forthcoming album on an indie (as opposed to Geffen, which released their last seven (!) albums) means the major-label ship will be even lighter when it finally does sink. In an interview with Danbury, CT's New Times, Rivers Cuomo said that "there's definitely going to be more raw rock energy on this one."
It's a testament to the enduring awesomeness of "The Sweater Song" that my faith in Weezer has still not run out. Here's to hoping that this one will be, you know, good. [Stereogum]
