Weezer Announces Festival At Sea

Festival organizers have been taking to the high seas in recent times in a quest to put a new twist on the old idea of going to see a bunch of bands all playing together. First we had the Booze Cruise, which featured a group of indie-rock acts all getting wasted and playing a song or two aboard a large cruiser, and now comes news of a similar undertaking by Weezeer.

The “Weezer Cruise” will set sail from Miami to Mexico from Jan. 19-23 and will feature sets from the organizers plus Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Gene Ween, the Antlers, Yuck, Wavves and Free Energy. There will be four stages scattered around the ship, and Weezer will play a couple of sets to make sure everyone who attends gets a chance to see them.

It’s going to cost $799 per person for a double cabin or groups of four people can book one together for $599 each, so Weezer seem to be banking on their fans having a lot of disposable income. Tickets go on sale via a pre-sale on July 21 and then to the general public on Aug. 3. [via Rolling Stone]
