Some footage of Joaquin Phoenix’s nascent hip-hop career already exists, but not enough to satisfy actor Casey Affleck, who is allegedly making a documentary about the Walk the Line star. An anonymous post on Rollingstone.com requested video footage of Phoenix’s performances as a rapper, leading to this site, where you can upload any video files you may have of his catastrophic work.
“I am making a movie about Joaquin Phoenix’s transition from movies to music,” Affleck (if it is him) writes on the site. “If you have any video that pertains to this topic and would like it included in this film I would like to use it.” Daniel Kreps at Rolling Stone has investigated further, and still remains skeptical whether this site is the real deal, especially as his e-mail to info@joaqdoc.com bounced back immediately.
But, if the site really is the work of Affleck, anyone who does have footage of Phoenix that they haven’t uploaded to YouTube may face the enticing prospect of having it included in a major motion picture. I also tried the info@joaqdoc.com address, and got a message saying it was “rejected by the recipient domain.” So, at the present time, the jury is still out on whether this movie and its website is legit, and who knows how serious (or otherwise) Phoenix is about his career switch.
